Become a Remote HEDIS Nurse: Pave Your Path to Working from Home

Experienced nurse looking for a fresh challenge? Step into the role of a HEDIS nurse and apply your skills in an exciting new way!”

If nursing is your passion, but bedside rotations aren’t your thing, HEDIS review is a non-bedside nurse job that could be your calling!

What is HEDIS?

HEDIS, which stands for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set, consists of a set of performance measures employed in the healthcare field.

These metrics are utilized for annual audits of insurance companies.

HEDIS evaluates how well healthcare is done, focusing on areas where changes can actually improve people’s lives in a significant way.

HEDIS markers consist of 90 measurements spread out and separated into categories.  The 6 domains of HEDIS measures are:

  • Effectiveness of Care
  • Access/Availability of Care
  • Utilization and Risk Adjusted Utilization
  • Health Plan Descriptive Information
  • Measures Collected Using Electronic Clinical Data Systems

The Role of a HEDIS Nurse

HEDIS nurses are either registered nurses (RNs) or licensed practical nurses (LPNs) who have reached the midpoint or later phases of their nursing careers.

In the role of a HEDIS nurse, your responsibility is to gather specific information from medical records. This job can be done from your home or in person at a nearby office. Most companies prefer nurses who already know about HEDIS.

Fortunately, there are companies that acknowledge nurses who have finished Marie Peppers’ Remote Learning Service Hedis Program. This program makes it easy to get the skills you need and get hired quickly.

How Much Do Hedis Nurses Earn?

According to Marie Peppers LPN Nurse Recruiter, the average pay for HEDIS nurses is $26 to $34 an hour, depending on how large the hiring company is.

Although the pay for HEDIS nurses may be slightly lower, the advantages of working from home, like saving on commute costs and preserving your energy and peace of mind, contribute significantly to outweighing the monetary difference.

Nurses with more advanced management roles in HEDIS tend to make $40 to $50 per hour.

Education and Licenses:  RN/LPN/LVN

Marie Peppers has assisted nurses from LPN to Nurse Practitioners with their HEDIS/Data Abstraction education and training.  Marie includes the HEDIS course inside of her Care Manager Course, so you get the best of both worlds.

Often HEDIS measures will pull data from the records that our Care/Case Managers work on. Chronic Care Management, a Medicare Wellness program is also based on Preventative Health and Population Management which all revolves around HEDIS and STARS data.

Hedis Jobs Can be Year-Round or Seasonal:

Marie has found that a good 15 % of the nurses who graduate from her program work year-round and full-time remote HEDIS jobs.

There are many nurses who prefer to work only during HEDIS season abstracting data from late December to May.

We also have some LPNs and RNs that have started HEDIS jobs in November to help collect data prior to the charts arriving from the offices and or facilities in late December.

Very few of the nurses Marie has trained work at a facility doing HEDIS Abstraction. 95% are all working remotely from their homes.

Additionally, there are LPNs and RNs who initiate their HEDIS jobs in November, aiding in data collection before the charts arrive from offices or facilities in late December.

It’s worth noting that only a small number of the nurses trained by Marie are engaged in facility-based HEDIS Abstraction. About 95% of them work remotely from their homes.
